An Update from GTB on COVID-19

Our love for the humans who share this land with the trees and the bees has never been stronger than during this unprecedented time.  This is indeed a brave new world.

We are committed to doing our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to protect the health and safety of our clients, our workers, their families and the community we are so proud to call home.

We are grateful that our office is our home and the great outdoors, often way up high in the trees; and that we are able to operate with a tiny core staff of three folks in the field and one in the office.  As such, we are able to heed the current recommendations of the CDC, state and local governments, ISA and OSHA, and remain open.

We have been taking, and will continue to take, precautions.  Our family and our employee’s families have been sheltering in place since March 13.  We are practicing social distancing, are increasing sanitation, and are reducing our public interface to the bare minimum necessary to keep operating.  We will continue to monitor this rapidly developing epidemiological situation and will be responsive in our practices.

At this time, we are asking our clients to help us protect the humans by joining in these practices:

  • Prior to your estimate appointment, if possible, please mark the trees you would like assessed with a ribbon, or whatever you might have available for marking.  We are also happy to take, by email to humans@gratefultreesandbees.com, more details about your request, or photos that you may not have included in your initial query.
  • Jake personally conducts all estimates and will be the only person visiting your property during the estimate.  He will no longer knock on your door upon arrival, but instead will give you a call at the number you provided.
  • Jake uses an Android phone and is also happy to engage on any video platform that might work for you, such as Zoom, Facebook Messenger, etc.  If you’d like to use one of these platforms, please let us know in advance by email to humans@gratefultreesandbees.com, and we’ll be sure to have it set up before your appointment.
  • All site visits are followed up within two to three business days by email with a written estimate that will detail Jake’s findings and prescriptions; and a follow up by phone to address any questions can also be scheduled.
  • For operations, you do not need to be present when Jake and the crew arrive.  If you are home, it is okay to stay in your home.  Jake will give you a call if he has any questions.
  • If for any reason you prefer to be outdoors during an estimate or operations, please practice social distancing and keep 6 feet or more of distance between you, Jake and our crew members.

From our GTB Family to yours, thank you for your kind cooperation with these new safety practices.  Together, we will get by, we will survive.

We wish you each vibrant health and plenty of laughter, beauty, music and joy to stave off the cabin fever!

In gratitude and solidarity,

Jacob Pressley & Jennifer Socey, Co-Owners
